Deering Public Library is located in Southwest New Hampshire's glorious Monadnock Region. Deering is a quintessential New England town with a white clapboard church, a town hall at its center and a population of approximately 1800 people. The library is located year round on the second floor of the town hall. Our seasonal school house library is open during the summer.

A NEW BOARD OF TRUSTEES

Welcome to the Deering Public library! As can be seen from the dates of previous notices on this blog, the blog itself has not been active, and this somewhat reflects the apparent inactivity of the library over the past few years. With this post, we are turning a new -- dare I say? -- page! We'll keep you apprised of what we hope will be interesting activities centered on the library, announcements of new books and reminders of old books in our collection. We would like to have suggestions for books, or genres of books, that you would like us to add to the collection. We would be especially appreciative of reviews of books you have read, or 'literary' comments. You can contact us at library@deering.nh.us

Sara Klumb and Gary Samuels are first time trustees but Lou Ellen Beard is a returning trustee, so the Board of Trustees is not completely without direction or sense of tradition. Kathy Lassey has been helping the Board in these early meetings as a Friend of the Library. It is important that we have a strong Friend's group so, if this interests you please contact us via email.

THE DEERING HOLIDAY FESTIVAL!

The first item we have been working on is a Holiday Festival of song, crafts and a visit from Santa. This will be held in Town Hall on Saturday, 7 December, 1:00-4:00 pm. We're excited about this. We are very happy to announce that Roger Tincknell will once again come up from Massachusetts to lead us in song and general revelry. Roger has been a hit each time he has performed here and, as it turns out, he very much enjoys coming to Deering and performing in Town Hall. There will  be some craft tables for kids to make holiday things, and refreshments. We think the Festival will be a lot of fun and urge you to 'save the date.'
